Outdoor Research was founded in Seattle, Washington, in 1981 by mountaineer and scientist Ron Gregg. The brand began after an equipment failure during a Denali expedition inspired Gregg to develop a better solution.

Foray is Outdoor Research’s men’s waterproof shell range, while Aspire is its women’s counterpart. Both are designed to provide dependable rain protection and feature TorsoFlo ventilation for releasing heat without removing the jacket.

TorsoFlo is Outdoor Research’s ventilation system that allows a jacket to unzip from the hem towards the upper body. This creates additional airflow and can also let the front of the jacket sit over a pack hipbelt while you are moving.
